Description:

Lingam is a piece of devotional porcelain used in the rituals of the god Shiva, which inspired the sculptor on a trip to Varanasi where she discovered how impressive Hindu rituals are. The Lingam of Shiva has been placed in the centre of the innermost sanctum of every temple for over two thousand years, worshipped as an upright stone, self-grown from the ground and supremely sacred. It serves as a representation of the creative union that generates and sustains the life of the Universe. It performs the dual function of supporting it and collecting the liquids used during offerings. Finished in black stoneware with enamel and gold lustre decorating a large part of the piece. A piece with great ornamental work.
