Description:
Piece of large dimensions in an unusual Lladró style representing Anubis, the god of Ancient Egypt. It is a replica of the original piece found in the tomb of King Tutankhamun, who guarded the mummy. The name Anubis is of Greek origin and is attributed to the jackal-headed god. In Egyptian mythology it was associated with mummification and the afterlife. Its black colour in Ancient Egypt was not a colour associated with grief and fear, but with fertility and prosperity, as the black silt deposited with the rising river level favoured harvests
