Description:
This grandiose baroque-style saloon inspired by the original models housed in the Lisbon Chariot Museum is one of the most complex and ambitious works by the artists of the Alta Porcelana Lladró workshop. It is an example of preciousness and exquisite ornamentation. The nobles of the European courts brought to the streets an extension of the magnificence of their palaces with these magnificent carriages. In this limited series, everything has been carefully thought out down to the smallest detail: the four horses, the servants' uniforms, the couple's gala dresses and, above all, the ornamentation of the carriage. Some fifty different colours are used to decorate the carriage, and it takes the artists around a hundred hours of painstaking work to apply them. The production of each unit requires the participation of more than twenty-five different specialists, who together devote some 300 hours to the task. The result is a unique piece which, once fired, measures more than a metre in length and weighs around twenty-five kilograms.
