Description:
Saint George is the prototype of the medieval knight and one of the most revered saints in Europe. The artists of the Lladró Haute Porcelain workshop have created this spectacular interpretation of his legendary adventure with the dragon in a limited series that stands out for its dynamism and the technical virtuosity of its production. The scene shows the hero fighting the ferocious creature to free the daughter of a king, who was to be sacrificed at the monster's demand. The decoration of the piece is notable for the richness of the enamels, with nearly 20 different tones applied to the dragon and a depth of texture that accentuates the modelling and gives it volume. The knight, on the other hand, has a very soft treatment, softened by the light skin and Apollonian features. This contrast is reinforced by the white of the horse, a symbol of the nobility, bravery and loyalty necessary to defeat evil.
